Restasis Insurance Coverage

As we discussed in the past, patients have benefited from Restasis becoming more affordable each year on major prescription drug plans across the country.  Specific to this area of the country, I wanted to highlight some significant changes that have taken place in the past few months with respect to Restasis coverage – specifically, Restasis being moved
from tier 3 to a tier 2 (lowest branded copay) status.  The following plans have made these changes:

Cigna

Humana

Aetna

Anthem

Wellpoint

Caremark (Mail order)

Medco (Mail order)

In addition, many patients with commercial insurance coverage also have the benefit of mail order for prescriptions.  In many cases, the mail order option saves them time and dollars.  As many patients have met their deductibles at this point in the year, it is advantageous for those who have to refill their prescriptions at this point in the year and maximize their co-payment.
